Events   Renting a theatre space takes some careful planning and organization. The staff at the Anne Simley Theatre wants to help you make your event as successful and as stress free as possible. To assist you in your preparations we would offer the following tips and pointers.

  • Visit the theatre. If you are not familar with the Theatre and its support spaces please schedule a walkthrough. Seeing the space is a good way to start the planning for how your event will be realized. To schedule a visit contact Bill Wallace the Technical Director for the theatre.
  • Plan ahead. The more that we know about what you want to accomplish the better the staff at the theatre can help you prepare for the kinds of technical support needs your event will require. While we try to accomodate last minute requests and changes, it is not always possible to provide additional equipment or staff without advance notice. The Theatre staff will be happy to work with you in planning your event.
  • Prepare a schedule. Plan the dates and times that you will want to be in the theatre. The largest part of the bill for most organizations is the actual rental time that they are in the space. Make sure that every person in your group knows what needs to be accomplished during the times that you are in the theatre.
  • Determine your budget. The Anne Simley Theatre can provide a number of resources for a production. It is important that you have a good sense of the time that you have and the budget that is available to to fund the production so that you can best determine how to use the resources that you have.

The following resources may help you to organize your various production needs and requirements:

The Lecture Worksheet is a checklist for groups sponsoring a simple presentation.

The Production Planning Worksheet is for groups presenting a dance or theatre event.

The Cost Estimating Worksheet will help you begin to determine the costs associated with the rental of the Anne Simley Theatre. The theatre staff will be happy to help you review the costs and work with you to maximize your production resources.
