Go to Serena's E-folio
Serena King was born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan and received her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  She then went on to graduate school in clinical psychology at the University of Minnesota and was awarded her Ph.D. in 2005.  Serena completed her year long clinical internship at Hennepin County Medical Center with a focus on adult psychological assessment and treatment.

Serena joined the Hamline faculty in the fall of 2005.  Serena teaches general psychology, clinical psychology, abnormal psychology, a course on alcoholism and college drinking, and cross-cultural psychology.  Serena has published several scientific articles and chapters in the area of alcoholism and addiction.  At Hamline, she plans to continue to pursue research on the genetic and environmental influences on alcoholism and college drinking by gathering college student samples and using pre-existing data from twins and adoptees that has been gathered by colleagues at the University of Minnesota.   Serena is also pursuing licensure to practice as a clinical psychologist which she hopes will enrich her teaching.
