After college, she went straight to graduate school in political science. She completed her graduate work in 1986. She then held a one-year teaching position in the Department of Political Science at the University of Vermont. After that, she spent two years teaching courses in comparative politics and international studies at Washington State University.
She came to Hamline in the fall of 1989, and she was tenured in the political science department in 1995. Currently she teaches a variety of courses in political science as well as women's studies and global studies. She also teaches a course called "Traveler's Tales" in the First Year Seminar Program.
Professor Vogel serves in many capacities at Hamline.
