Certificate in Conflict Studies

Admission
The undergraduate certificate in conflict studies is designed to provide greater educational depth and integration than the minor. Students seeking admission to the program for a certificate should meet with the program director to develop a statement that describes his or her proposed learning goals and how they relate to his or her academic major, and to indentify appropriate courses that meet the student's learning objectives. Students are then required to submit that statement in writing to the program faculty for approval.

Optimal timing for admission to the program is between completing the first course (CFST 1110) and completing the second course (CFST 3100). Courses must be approved in advance in order to count toward a certificate.

Certificate Requirements:

Students approved must take 8 courses as follows:

1. CFST 1100: Introduction to Conflict Studies
2. CFST 3100: Approaches to Conflict Response
3. One approved internship/practicum/study-abroad experience with a theme related to the study of conflict
4. Four required courses from within the student’s approved track
5.

Capstone
Students in the certificate program are required to participate in an approved capstone course.
