    Expand your career options with the new Hamline School of Business Sequential Degree.

    In today's changing economy, professionals will have multiple careers across multiple industries. Earning an additional graduate degree from Hamline School of Business will broaden your career choices.

    How it works:

    Our new sequential degree program enables an alumni who completed their master’s degree within the last five years to complete an additional master’s degree within the School of Business on an expedited timeframe (28-30 credits depending on the degree sought as opposed to the customary 48) and also receive our 10% alumni tuition discount.

    Program Logistics:

    For Master in Public Administration (MPA) and Master in Nonprofit Management (MNM) Alumni:

    Nonprofit Management (MNM) or Public Administration (MPA) degree (28 credits)—Students returning for an MPA or MNM degree complete 7 courses (6 core and 1 elective from the new field) in the new degree. A review of their previous transcript will determine which courses are required. 

    Business Administration (MBA) degree (30 credits)—Students returning to earn the MBA degree complete MBA modules 2, 3 and 4 for a total of 30 credits. Students may choose to take additional MBA electives if they want more depth in a particular field.

    For Master of Business Administration (MBA) Alumni:

    Nonprofit Management (MNM) degree (28 credits)—Students returning to earn an MNM degree take the following courses:
            GPA 8002 Fundamentals of Nonprofit Management
            GPA 8020 Financial Management for Nonprofits
            GPA 8062 Law for Nonprofits
            GPA 8110 Governance and Planning for Nonprofits
            GPA 8362 Fundraising for Nonprofits
            GPA 8070 Research Methods
            GPA 8492 Capstone for Nonprofits

    Public Administration (MPA) degree (28 credits)—Students returning to earn an MPA take the following courses:
            GPA 8000 Foundations of Public Administration
            GPA 8030 Public Fiscal Management
            GPA 8040 Public Policy Analysis
            GPA 8050 Public Sector Human Resources
            GPA 8061 Administrative Law
            GPA 8070 Research Methods
            GPA 8492 Capstone for Government

            *Above logistics are based on current program structure and are subject to change if programs are revised.

    HOW TO GET STARTED AND APPLY

    HSB Alumni of the MBA, MPA, or MNM degree within the past 5 years applying for the sequential degree submit an application and the following materials:

    • Personal Statement
    • 2 new letters of reference (one HSB Hamline faculty or staff and one professional)
    • A current resume

    After a review of these materials, the admissions committee may require additional items; students will be notified if more materials are needed.
