• Master in Public Administration

It is the leadership of dedicated, educated citizens that produces effective government.

The Master in Public Administration degree is designed for working professionals interested in the dynamics of the public sector. Many of our students are already actively engaged in public service at the state and local government levels.

The Master in Public Administration program provides the knowledge and tools they need to enhance their careers, as both managers of public employees and administrators meeting the fiduciary responsibilities of expending tax dollars.

    Why Hamline?

Hamline’s MPA provides a solid and comprehensive body of knowledge to create capable government managers. With this degree, you can be a leader within government and positively affect people’s lives. This program is the latest initiative in Hamline’s long history of leadership in public administration.

Hamline educates students to serve as innovators and leaders in their field. The learning environment draws on the expertise of a network of boards, advisors, alumni, and professionals -- merging theory with practice and academic learning with relevant, real-world experience. Students have the opportunity to apply classroom instruction to their professional lives, using their acquired knowledge for the good of their communities.

Ranked first in Minnesota among comprehensive universities by U.S. News and World Report, Hamline University is also Minnesota’s first University, founded in 1854.

Guided by faculty who are leaders in their fields, Hamline’s nearly 5,000 students experience small classes and personal attention along with the opportunities of a comprehensive university.
