    Graduate Assistant Responsibilities

    Hamline University is seeking strong candidates to serve in a key role as Graduate Assistant in the Civic Engagement & Service-Learning area of the Wesley Center for Spirituality, Service, and Social Justice at Hamline University. The graduate assistant would provide research and writing support to the coordinator of Civic Engagement and Service-Learning. Tasks would include the following:

    • Collect and compile campus data and program descriptions related to the Presidents' Higher Education Honor Roll application and other awards/certifications related to civic engagement and community service in higher education.
    • Use tools such as SurveyMonkey and Excel to collect and map general data regarding campus-wide community service, civic engagement efforts, service-learning courses and community partnerships.
    • Assist in researching and developing grant proposals related to civic engagement, community service, and service-learning.
    • Assist in compiling profiles of exemplary service-learning courses and civic engagement efforts at Hamline for the Civic Engagement and Service-Learning website.
    • Assist in publicizing civic engagement and community service events and efforts on campus and in such outlets as Inside Hamline and the Minnesota Campus Compact monthly newsletter.
    • Other research and writing tasks as assigned.

    Graduate Assistant Qualifications

    Individual must be newly enrolled in The Hamline MBA program. Must be detail-oriented with demonstrated organizational and problem solving abilities. Strong oral and written skills are essential. An ideal candidate would have an active interest in civic engagement and civic learning in higher education as well as experience with database software, technical writing or journalistic writing, and web editing.
