Graduate Assistant Responsibilities The Athletic Recruiting Graduate Assistant will be a member of a dynamic, professional team dedicated to providing exceptional athletic experiences for students at Hamline University. This person to fill this part-time grad assistantship will help the Department of Athletics with recruitment efforts through a variety of outreach strategies and tactics. Recruit prospective student athletes through emails, mailings, phone calls, campus visits, home visits, scouting, evaluation and web-based recruiting programs pursuant to NCAA, MIAC and Hamline Athletics recruiting and admissions standards and regulations Assist with the coordination of correspondence for athletic recruits, including but not limited to creating and distributing questionnaires for high school recruits and coaches and maintaining and utilizing online database Assist with the coordination of campus visits for athletic recruits: Work with potential student athletes’ admissions offices to obtain copies of current transcripts, test scores Create, send, and document correspondence with potential student-athletes Make campus visit arrangements for potential recruits, including flights and airport transportation per NCAA rules Host weekend recruiting sessionsCoordinate campus visits and tours for potential athletic recruits Assist with the coordination of unofficial campus visits for prospective recruits: Correspondence Supervise student employees Perform other duties, as assigned Reporting Relationships This graduate assistant reports to the Hamline University Athletic Director. The Department of Athletics is a component of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs at Hamline University. Mental/Physical Requirements Excellent written and verbal communications skills Must be flexible and have the ability to work as part of a strong team in a dynamic environment Demonstrated attention to detail Ability to manage simultaneous projects Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a diverse clientele Ability to sit for long periods of time at the computer; requires heavy concentration Ability to lift and carry more than 25 pounds on a daily basis Graduate Assistant Qualifications Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred . Must be newly enrolled graduate student in The Hamline MBA in Hamline University’s School of Business. However, applications for The Hamline MBA program and the Athletic Recruiting Graduate Assistantship can be concurrent. Compensation Graduate assistants receive $5,000 in scholarship compensation toward the first year of The Hamline MBA. Graduate assistantships can be renewed for a second year in some cases.
