MBA Concentration: Human Resource Management

 Human Resource Management

The human resource management profession continues to play an increasingly important role in helping organizations enhance their competitiveness. Those people
who have the business acumen to contribute to business strategy at the highest organizational levels are leading the transition of HR professionals from administrators
to strategic partners. HR professionals who understand the language of business, who speak in financial terms, and who express the value of their work in relation to its
impact on the bottom line make HR a compelling component in strategy discussions.

Integrating knowledge from across the MBA curriculum, students have the opportunity to study the relationships between HR and firm performance—the ultimate goal of contemporary HR organizations. The program also focuses on current events and the economy, understanding the impact of public policies, and the impact of fundamental business shifts on the workforce. The HR concentration offers an ideal balance of classes in contemporary business strategies and courses specific to HR to help students develop competencies necessary to become true global HR professionals.

Students will gain the following targeted competencies:

HR Systems: Design HRM systems to foster a highly competent, committed, and flexible workforce that will create sustainable competitive advantages. Identify HR
activities that help optimize value creation.

Leadership: Develop the ability to create a vision and strategy and to ensure the organization’s alignment with its strategy. Learn how to manage and motivate a changing and diverse workforce.

Global Mindset: Understand the dynamics of the global marketplace. Develop the expertise necessary to succeed in today’s multicultural business environment.

Talent Management: Understand the nature of human capital. Develop strategies to manage employees in the global economy and maximize the capability of individuals and teams.

Internal and External Consulting: Develop consulting skills to market HR’s value within the organization. Cultivate an executive presence through progressive experience working with senior business leaders.

Technology Skills: Develop proficiency in broad HR applications and their potential delivery systems.
