Almanac of American Politics
An in-depth guide to all the Governors and members of the U.S. Senate and House.  Entries for each individual contain standard biographical information, a ratings chart by major organizations, voting record of major issues and an article for each.  The almanac contains new census data, a section on American demographics, campaign finance, a listing of all general and sub-committees, House and Senate leadership, and a general index.  From the National Journal.

Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections
"Detailed national results for the major and minor candidates for U.S. president in the general (November) presidential elections from 1789 through [2004].  Individual year pages include candidates, parties, popular and electroral vote totals, maps, charts, and voter turnout (1932-2004).  Also, additional menus provide hyperlinks to state results pages for the Presidential Elections from 1892 through 2000.  County-level maps and data are available for the elections from 1960 - 2000.  The 2000 pages also include the results map for president by U.S. Congressional District!"

C-SPAN
Watch government happen.  Includes both live streams and archived video of White House briefings, committee hearings and more.  "C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company, created in 1979 by the cable television industry as a public service. Our mission is to provide public access to the political process. C-SPAN receives no government funding; operations are funded by fees paid by cable and satellite affiliates who carry C-SPAN programming." 
 

Encyclopedia of American Parties, Campaigns, and Elections
"Much of this book consists of easy-to-understand explanations of both common and complex political terms.  We also provide brief biographies of major political figures, descriptions of significant political parties and movements, and explanations of important cases about elections and campaign finance law decided by the Supreme Court of the United States.  Finally, under the term "elections" the reader will find a detailed account of the presidential elections and campaigns held since the Constitution was ratified in 1788."
