Introduction This web page came about partly because of 9/11. Since that day, it has become even more important for Americans to learn about the world of which we are a part. The goal of this page is to provide links to information from and about the countries of the world, and about how we interact as nations.

Consider the Source: This page is about perspective and context. The context of information is as important as the information itself. Ideas, opinions, and information are products of their time and geographic location. The WWW gives us the opportunity to read news from around the world, not just about the world from a U.S. newspaper, i.e. the U.S. perspective. There are other sources of information than newspapers: think tanks conduct policy research; IGOs are governments working together to solve problems; NGOs are worldwide organizations of individuals working together to solve problems. And they each have their biases.

To help build an awareness of the differences between sources, icons are used to indicate the type of source. e.g. means the information is from a think tank headquartered in the U.S., with a predominantly American board or staff.

Criteria for Inclusion: Broad coverage, beyond politics and government; authoritative; well-organized; most, if not all, of the site is accessible without charge; substantive content available online (i.e. full text documents).

Some of the links on this page lead to information in other languages. Don't let a site scare you away because it's in another language!

The comprehensiveness of their web presence also varies.
