Students: log into Piperline and select Student Account Services, from there you have the option to view your bills or make payments. Parents or authorized guests: log directly into Cashnet with the username and password provided when your student established your access. Faculty and staff: log into Piperline and select Personal Information -> Online E-Bill and E-Payment System. E-Bills What is an E-Bill and why is the university using this method of delivery? Electronic billing (E-Bill) is a convenient and reliable alternative to paper bills. You will be sent an email notification to your Hamline email account when an E-Bill is available for viewing. You also have the ability to give access to authorized users to view your E-Bills and/or make E-Payments. Each person with access to the E-Bill will receive an email notification when a new E-Bill is generated. How do I access my E-Bill online? When a new E-Bill is available for viewing, you will receive an email in your Hamline email account which will direct you to Piperline to view your bill. The email received by authorized users will link directly to the E-Bill site to login and view the E-Bill. NOTE: Make sure that the computer does not have a Pop-Up Blocker that will block the access to the E-Bill. Why did I receive a reminder email about my E-Bill even though I have paid the bill? The reminder email is automatically sent if you have not actually logged into the system and viewed your E-Bill. Only one reminder email is sent per E-Bill. What is the difference between my E-Bill and my Up-to-date student account detail in Piperline? The E-Bill is a web-based presentation of your monthly bill. It represents a snapshot in time of your student account. If any new transactions occur, these transactions will show on the next E-Bill. The Up-to-date student account detail in Piperline provides access to your most up-to-date account activity. E-Payments How do I pay my bill with this system? The specific ways available to pay your student account include: - Online E-Check option, accessed via Piperline (no fee) - American Express, Discover, VISA, and MasterCard payments accepted only online via Piperline. A non-refundable 2.75 percent convenience fee will be assessed. - Cash or check payments are accepted at the cashier's window in East Hall; check payments may also be mailed - An installment plan established through Tuition Management Systems Why does Hamline use an online E-payment system? To comply with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCIDSS), the university needed to change the way credit card payments were processed. PCIDSS was implemented by the credit card industry to protect the security of your personal information. How was the 2.75 percent fee for credit card transaction determined? The university has contracted with a third party service provider that is compliant with the PCIDSS to process credit cards on our behalf. The 2.75 percent rate charged by the service provider is determined as the cost of providing the service. The fees collected are retained by the service provider for payment of the bank transaction fees. Is the 2.75 percent fee refundable? The 2.75 percent fee is not refundable, even if your student account payment is refunded. What are my other payment options if I choose not to use the online payment methods available? The university accepts cash and check payments at the cashier's window in East Hall. You can also mail check payments to the Student Accounts office at 1536 Hewitt Avenue, Mail Stop A1770, St. Paul, MN 55104. Does Hamline offer any type of payment plan? Hamline University offers a monthly installment plan in partnership with Tuition Management Systems. This allows payments to be spread out over the course of a semester or school year. The enrollment fee for fall or spring semester is $40.00. Contact Tuition Management Systems at 800-722-4867 or at www.hamline.afford.com for more information or to enroll. Why can't I use my credit card at the Cashier's window or over the phone? Credit card payments are not accepted in person or over the phone to provide a more secure environment to safeguard your credit card and personal information. Credit card payments can only be made online via Piperline, using your secure login. Does the university charge for online billing and payment? The university offers both electronic billing and the online E-Check payment option at no fee. However, if you choose to make a payment by an accepted credit card you will be charged a non-refundable 2.75 percent fee by our credit card processor. Granting Access to your E-Bill and E-Payment Site What if I want another person (parent, spouse, etc.) to also receive my e-bills and be able to make online payments on my student account? You, as the student, have control over access to your e-bill and e-payment site. If you want to grant access to another person, you must establish them as an “Authorized Guest” in the system. You can establish as many Authorized Guests as you need. Log into Piperline->Student Account Services->Other Resources->Authorized Guest Accounts->Add New. For "Authorized Guest Username", enter the person's name. Enter the email address for their e-bill notifications. The Authorized Guest will receive an email notifying them that the student has created an account for them. The login and initial password will be included in that email along with the link to access the account. What do I do if the login/password for my Authorized Guest is not working? You, as the student, have the ability to reset the information for your Authorized Guests via Piperline. If the password is reset, an email will be sent to the Authorized Guest with the new temporary password.
