Foreign
Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships
Northern Illinois University's Center for Southeast Asian Studies was
the second such Center established in the United States. It has country
strengths in the
study of Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, The Philippines, and
Thailand. It
offers regular courses in Southeast Asian anthropology, art history,
government and
politics, geography, history, foreign languages, literature, religion, and
music. The Center for Southeast Asian Studies is a U.S. Department of
Education Title VI funded
National Resource Center for undergraduates. In addition, it also offers
Foreign
Language and Area Studies fellowships for graduate students in all
disciplines.
