Singapore IPCO, Cisco In Pact For Indonesia Project
SINGAPORE -- Singapore IPCO International Ltd. (P.IIN) said Wednesday it
has picked Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) as its technology provider for an
Internet Protocol Network project in Indonesia.
This is the first of the series of IP infrastructure projects IPCO plans in
the region.
The new IP Network will be built using Cisco Multi Protocol Label Switching
technology, which is capable of prioritizing and delivering applications at
guaranteed bandwidths and speeds of up to 100 times faster than
conventional networks in Indonesia, the company said.
The network will be marketed as Neuviz-Network and will serve more than 50
commercial buildings in Jakarta's central business district. It is expected
to cover most cities in the country by 2003.
The Indonesia project will be carried out by IPCO's unit P.T. Prestasi
Cipta Pertiwi. It is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter.
IPCO said its shares will resume trading at 0800 GMT (4 a.m. EDT). The
company had earlier halted trading of shares pending the announcement.
Its shares last traded at S$0.47, up S$0.01.
