Effective immediately, a moratorium on postings _submitted_ to this list
is in effect.
The _majority_ of postings now being submitted to me in my capacity as
list moderator fall into four categories:
a) advocacy of religious hatred,
b) advocacy of violence,
c) advocacy of the disintegration of the unitary state of Indonesia,
d) advocacy of the downfall of the government of Gus Dur.
Using the opportunity provided by the list's commitment to free expression
and its wide readership, organized cells of posters are striving to
advance these aims on this list in particular and on the Internet in
general.
I will not play these destructive games. I oppose these tactics. I
oppose these goals.
I cannot now forecast _when_ the moratorium on submitted postings will be
lifted. It may be soon, it may be a long time. I also reserve the right
to make some exceptions to the moratorium.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to legitimate posters.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to list readers who do not post.
It is therefore not inconceivable that the basic aims and rules of this
list will change significantly in the near future. If this occurs, an
announcement will be made on this Web page. Private feedback on this
matter to me at apakabar@radix.net is welcome.
For now, I will continue to post a _limited_ number of news stories and a
few other types of postings which could be constructive in advancing
informed, objective debate and in helping resolve the many very serious
problems in Indonesia.
Salam
