The next re-affirmation of accreditation will be in spring 2019, at which time the programs will be evaluated based on the new Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) standards. Minnesota Board of School AdministratorsHamline’s Administrative Licensure programs (Principal, Superintendent, and Director of Special Education) are approved licensure programs of the Minnesota Board of School Administrators, which is required for school administrator licensure preparation programs under MN Statute 122A.14. The next re-certification of the Administrative Licensure programs will be in 2021. Minnesota Board of TeachingHamline’s initial licensure programs (obtained as an undergraduate or with the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)) are approved teacher preparation programs by the Minnesota Board of Teaching. The Board of Teaching establishes licensure standards and requirements, approves institutions and licensure programs to prepare Minnesota teachers, and establishes and enforces the Code of Ethics for Minnesota teachers. The current authority and responsibilities of the Board of Teaching are delineated primarily in Minnesota Statutes §122A.05 – §122A.09, §122A.18, §214, and Minnesota Rules, Chapters 8700 and 8710. Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Nationally Recognized ProgramThe MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL) is currently seeking TESOL National Recognition, which is specialized accreditation under CAEP. The anticipated date of receiving this recognition is 2017. Students can also complete an ACS approved program in the BA in Chemistry or the BS in Biochemistry if specific courses and/or research are completed. The re-approval process occurred Fall 2016, and will go through re-approval again 2021.American Bar AssociationHamline’e Paralegal certificate is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA).
