    Departmental Honors

Departmental Honors Projects (DHPs) are a rigorous and fulfilling way of pursuing a long-term research project in your major. DHPs may emerge out of sophomore- and junior-year courses, study-abroad experiences, collaborative research projects, or students’ intellectual passions. Students usually begin formal work on DHPs in the spring of junior year, and complete the DHP in the spring of the senior year. To learn more about DHPs in your department, consult your advisor and your department chair.

It is the student's responsibility to set a date and time for the defense. New scheduling procedures mean that once the student has arranged a date and time with the committee, the faculty adviser must reserve the space for them. The room must be large enough to accommodate the student and the committee (typically five people).

    Archiving your DHP at DigitalCommons@Hamline
DigitalCommons@Hamline is Hamline’s online Institutional Repository. Here we publish and archive much of the work produced at Hamline, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research. Once your DHP is archived in the DigitalCommons@Hamline, it will be available not only to other researchers who choose to search the DigitalCommons@Hamline specifically, but also to all researchers who use Google Scholar as a research tool.
