  • Honorary Societies

    Alpha Kappa Delta
    Alpha Kappa Delta is an international society of scholars dedicated to the ideal of Athropon Katamanthanein Diakonesein or “to investigate humanity for the purpose of service.” AKD seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology and the research of social problems. Undergraduate membership is limited to sociology majors who are juniors or seniors and have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

    Beta Beta Beta
    This society has a three-fold purpose: stimulation of sound scholarship, dissemination of scientific knowledge, and promotion of biological research. Requirements for membership include concentration in the field of biology, superior scholarship, and recommendation of the faculty advisor.

    Iota Iota Iota
    Established in 1992, Iota Iota Iota recognizes the outstanding academic achievements of students in women’s studies, and members strive to maintain the values central to women’s studies: egalitarianism, inclusiveness, and a celebration of the diversity of women’s experiences. Hamline is home to the Omicron chapter of this national honor society.

    Phi Beta Kappa
    This is the oldest national honorary scholastic fraternity, founded in 1776. Election to membership is an honor conferred in recognition of students’ personal qualifications, the breadth and depth of their academic work, and their scholarly achievement in the liberal arts and sciences.

    Presidential Fellows
    This program offers selected community college graduates special financial aid assistance and seminar activities including cultural events and discussion of topics chosen by the group.

    Psi Chi
    A national psychology honor society promoting the advancement of the science of psychology, and to encourage, stimulate, and maintain the scholarship of the individual members in all academic fields, especially psychology.

    Sigma Beta Delta
    Founded in 1994, Sigma Beta Delta recognizes outstanding scholarship by students enrolled in business baccalaureate degree programs. Its purposes are to promote high scholarship in business education and to recognize and award scholastic achievement.

    Sigma Delta Pi
    A prestigious national Spanish honor society which elects outstanding students who demonstrate skills and interest in the language and culture of the Spanish speaking world.

    Presidential and Trustee Scholar Programs
    These programs, in addition to offering students financial assistance, provide a variety of seminars, cultural activities, and discussion for their education enrichment.

      As the Class of 2013 prepares to graduate, their professors have some words of wisdom for students to keep with them during their future endeavors.
    • The day the Class of 2013 has been working toward is just around the corner. Hamline undergraduate, graduate, and law students will gather to celebrate commencement with family, friends, faculty, and staff on May 17 and 18, 2013. The School of Law ceremony will be held on Friday, May 17 at 6 p.m.
    • Hamline University is pleased to welcome Ann Ness as vice president of marketing and enrollment management. In this role, she will lead the teams of marketing and strategic communications, enrollment, and financial aid.
