It was another free wheeling affair for the HU men's basketball team. This time, however, it didn't end so well. Hamline had an impressive rally from an early deficit to take a second half lead at Northwestern. Then the Eagles got the same idea and came back to win, 93-85, in overtime.
Dior Ford had a season high 23 points to lead the Pipers. Noah Aguirre added 16 and Tyler Pannell chipped in with 14 points. Aguirre also had nine rebounds and Victor Easter had seven.
Northwestern (4-0) jumped to a 21-4 lead. Aguirre hit a couple of baskets in a row as the Pipers steadily pecked away, cutting the deficit to 39-32 at halftime.
The good vibes went into the second half as HU went on a 21-4 in its own right for a 53-43 lead. The lead expanded to 13 before the Eagles came back to tie matters at 75 and force OT.
The Eagles scored the first five points in the extra session but the Pipers came back for a 85-84 lead with 1:50 left. Northwestern then scored the last seven points.
Hamline fell to 2-1 overall. They open MIAC play Wednesday, November 28 against St. John's at Hutton Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
