The Piper football team gets one last crack at that elusive first conference win when they host St. John's at Klas Field on Saturday, Nov. 3. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
Hamline (1-7, 0-7 MIAC) will be looking to avoid the third quarter outbursts that have haunted them in recent weeks. Last Saturday, they trailed Bethel 28-14 at halftime. The Royals scored four third quarter TDs and went on to a 56-21 win. The Piper bright lights were RB Austin Duncan, who rushed for 118 yards and LB Patrick Page, who came within two of a school record with 20 tackles.
Duncan, a freshman, also scored a TD to move into third place in the league in scoring. His 709 rushing yards (88.0 game average) sits fourth best and is on pace for the best numbers by a HU back in 16 years. Page now leads the MIAC in tackles with 93. He is one of two Pipers currently atop the league in a department. (The other is P John Broback, whose 42.2 average also ranks 4th in the country.)
The Johnnies have won their last two games to improve to 4-4 overall (2-4 MIAC). They have won the last 17 meetings with the Pipers.
