Footballers Hope To Ground Cobbers

Austin Duncan in clear

It's always the hardest trip to take. A four hour bus ride to Moorhead to play a team that usually has the disposition of an irritated bear is never easy to handle. But Hamline heads to Concordia Saturday hoping to continue the offensive production it showed last weekend. And if the Piper ground game can produce the same results it did against St. Olaf, perhaps HU will be in line to win for the first time in Moorhead since 1984. Game time on the plains is 1:00 p.m.

The Pipers (1-4, 0-4 MIAC) had a pair of 100 yard rushers for the first time in memory and rushed for 294 yards total in that 48-14 loss to the Oles last Saturday. They face a Cobber team (4-1, 2-1 MIAC) that leads the league in rushing yards with an average of 282.6 per game. But they were held to just 103 last week in a 15-14 loss at Bethel. CC RB Brett Baune is second in the league in rushing with a 129.8 average per game. Next in line, however is Hamline's Austin Duncan (pictured), who rumbled for 147 yards and a TD against the Oles. Duncan also caught a TD pass.
