Timing is sometimes everything. Hamline forward
Alyssa Koulentis
(pictured at right) played just 17 minutes in the HU women's soccer team's 2-1 win over St. Mary's Saturday afternoon at Paterson Field. But she made the most of it, breaking a 1-all tie with her first goal of the season with 12:26 remaining to decide the game. The win vaulted the Pipers into a four-way tie for third place with a 3-3-1 MIAC mark.
GK
Molly Jacobs
set a new school record with her eighth victory of the season. Hamline is 8-3-1 overall.
The Pipers peppered SMU Miranda Halling most of the afternoon but couldn't break the deadlock until
Heather Hollinger
took a pass from
Hannah Plagman
for her second goal of the season at 59:30.
It looked like that was all the Pipers would need but the Cardinals tied the game oat 76:32 on a Bethany Schmidt tally. The tie was shortlived. 52 seconds after SMU tied the game,
Caroline Exarhos
fed Koulentis for the game-winner. Hamline held a 16-1 edge in shots for the game.
Hamline takes a break from league play to host Wisconsin-Superior Tuesday at Paterson Field at 4:00 p.m. They return to MIAC play October 13 at Carleton.
