As you can see by the picture on the right, the Hamline University swimming pool is a busy, crowded place in the afternoon these days. And that is a very good thing.
When head coach Frank Vaccaro started his first practice on October 1, he was greeted by the largest contingent of Piper swimmers and divers in many years. 11 new faces will blend in with six veterans on the women's team. The men's contingent has doubled in size from six to 12 competitors.
The newbies (and vets) will get a chance to see how they size up against some of the best in Hamline's history on Saturday, October 6 with the annual Alumni meet at 5:00 p.m. They then will compete with each other on October 12 with the Burgundy-Gray meet. The first chance to goagainst fellow MIACers will come October 20 at the Augsburg Pentathlon held at St. Catherine's.
