Piper VB Comeback Falls Short, 3-1

Paige Walters

The HU volleyball team put on an inspired rally but couldn't catch up to St. Olaf and fell, 3-1, Saturday in Northfield. But the good news for coach Audrey Ludwig was the emergence of more offensive options. Paige Walters (pictured at right) led the HU offense against the Oles with eight kills. While it was not her season high (she has recorded 10 twice), it did mark the first time she has led the team in kills for a match. Sam Greeney-Hamlin backed Walters up with seven.

After dropping the first two games, 18-25 and 15-25, Hamline roared back for a solid 25-13 triumph in Game 3. The fourth game went back and forth until the Oles pulled away for a 19-25 finale.

Becka Mozes had 20 assists while Sammie Miller was close behind with 18. Led by Lynsey Reimer's 18, the Pipers had four players with double digit digs. Their total of 68 for the afternoon was their second highest for a four-set match this season.

Hamline is now 12-3 overall, 0-3 in the MIAC. They play a non-confeence match at Bethany Lutheran September 25 before returning to Hutton Arena to face Carleton September 28.
