Football Looking To Streak In A New Direction At Carleton

FB running

New year. New streak. The Hamline football team looks for its first 2-0 start since 2005 when they travel to Northfield Saturday to face Carleton. Game time at Laird Stadium is 1:00 p.m. You can watch or listen to the game by clicking here.  A live stats feed is available by clicking here.

Both teams enter the game 1-0. The Pipers won their opener at Minnesota-Morris, 37-31 on September 1 while the Knights opened the same day with a 20-14 win at Grinnell. Both teams had a bye last week before starting league action.

Although Carleton won last year's game, 34-0, this has been a very competitive series over the years. The Knights have won the last two games but lead the overall series by a slim 34-31 margin.

Hamline enters the game with the conference leader in rushing (Kevin Ackerley, 167 yards per game) and the top punter in Division III (John Broback, 51.2 yards per kick). Next Saturday, Hamline will play its first home game of the season against Augsburg. The 7:00 p.m. kickoff will mark just the second arclight HU game in Klas Field history.  It is also the only night game on the MIAC schedule this season. Head coach John Pate said he would like to make at least one night game a season a regular event on future home schedules.
