It is tough enough under normal circumstances to wrangle goals on the soccer field. It is particularly difficult when you can't get a lot of shots. Hamline's women's soccer team was held to just four shots total for the afternoon and dropped their first match of the season, 2-0, at Concordia.
It was the conference opener for both teams.
The Cobbers scored both their goals in the first half and frustrated the Pipers the rest of the way to deal them their first shutout of the season. It was also the first goals HU goalie Molly Jacobs, who registered five saves, has allowed all season.
The Pipers, who have played just one game at Paterson Field, now go home for their next four games. Bethel visits Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
