Future Piper Matt Wildes To Play In HS All Star game June 30

Six weeks before he hits the ground running on his college career, Matt Wildes gets to strut his football wares for all to see. The 2012 Mounds View grad will be on the defensive line for the North team in the annual Minnesota High School Coaches All Star game on June 30 at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. Game time is 1:30 p.m. Wildes, who is 6-1, 240 lbs.,  was a stalwart last year for the Mustangs, who went 12-2 overall and just missed getting to the Metrodome for the Prep Bowl semifinals. Wildes recorded 31 tackles for the Mustangs, including five solos in a 34-0 win over White Bear Lake.

He will be among the members of the freshman class that will report to Klas Field August 11 for the start of training camp. The Pipers open the 2012 season at Minnesota-Morris September 1. They open their home schedule with just the second night game in the history of Klas Field. On that night, HU will entertain August in a 7:00 p.m. game.
