When Julian Stubbs reports to Hamline's football training camp in August, he will already have one 2012 interception under his belt. The Rossville, GA native came up with a nifty takeaway on the first play of the annual Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Game June 9 in Chattanooga. Stubbs, who is projected as a defensive back for the Pipers, was a terror in 2011 for Ridgeland High School, recording 110 tackles, including six for loss. He also had a pair of interceptions and two fumble recoveries for the Panthers, who went 6-6 in 2011.
Stubbs is one of two future Pipers who will see summer all-star action prior to heading to training camp in August. Matthew Wildes, a standout defensive lineman from Mounds View High School, will be playing in the Minnesota High School All-Star game in St. Cloud later in June.
