Piper Softballers Earn Third Split In A Row

Laura Randall slapped out three hits (two doubles and a single) and Jenna Dushaw and Samantha Mau had two RBI each to lead Hamline to a 6-2 win and a split of their softball doubleheader at St. Benedict's Tuesday afternoon. It marked the third straight split for the Pipers, who are now 3-11 in the MIAC, 4-24 overall.

Lauren Clouston tossed a complete game seven-hitter for HU. The Pipers collected all their offense in the first four innings of the game, jumping to a 6-0 lead. In addition to Randall (who also scored three runs), Mau and Bethany Hine had two hits each in a 10-hit attack.

It was a marked improvement over the opener that saw HU held to just four hits in a 6-0 loss. Cecily Abbadessa stretched her hitting streak to eight games in a row with a first inning hit. (The streak ended in the second game.)

Hamline will host St. Olaf in a doubleheader at Meredith Field that will begin at 3:30 p.m.
