Men's Tennis Comes Up Just Short To St. John's

It was a matter of just four points. But it made all the difference in the world. Two close losses in singles by that tiny margin spelled the difference as Hamline lost a 6-3 men's tennis decision at St. John's Tuesday. The Pipers got singles wins from Bernard Mitambo (who fought off two match points and took a wild 13-11 third set win) and Andrew Lutz and a doubles win from the team of David Croonquist and Sam Teitelbaum (8-4). But Teitelbaum lost his third set, 11-9 and Derek Lutz dropped a 13-11 decision in his third set.

And that was just enough to pull SJU through.

Hamline is 5-9 overall, 0-6 in the MIAC. The Pipers play at Macalester Saturday..
