Having already played eight games there, the Pipers have spent a lot of time in the Metrodome this season. Wednesday night will be no exception when Hamline comes in for a 6:30 p.m. game. What will make this experience different is the opponent -- the Division I University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Hamline (4-4) will send righty Matt Mullendore (1-0, 3.86 ERA) to the mound against the Gophers (5-6 overall). HU is one of three MIAC teams the Gophers will face this season. The teams last met in 2010.That night, a six-run second inning hurt the Pipers badly in a 10-3 loss. There are just three regulars and two pitchers who appeared in that game against the Gophers on the current HU roster. One of them is left fielder Andy King, who is currently riding a six-game hitting streak and has propelled his batting average to .520 (13-for-25). (1B Mark Radmacher also is a six-game run.)
Tickets are available at the Metrodome. Fans are advised to go to Gate F. The game can also be heard via a webcast by clicking here.
The Pipers return to the Metrodome next Monday for a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader against Wis-Oshkosh.
