Benson Wins WIAC Floor Exercise Title

It's been a memorable season for HU sophomore gymnast Courtney Benson. She capped it Saturday by become the first HU gymnast ever to win the Floor Exercise title at the WIAC Championships in Eau Claire, Wis. It is just the fourth time a Piper gymnast has won an individual title in the 36-year history of the championships. Benson's score of 9.650 carried the day by .25 points. Benson finished in a tie for sixth in the Balance Beam. Her All-Around score of 37.550 placed her second in the competition, a mere.375 out of first place.

As a team, the Pipers finished with a season high 180.600 points, which landed them in sixth place, ahead of Wis-Oshkosh and Gustavus Adolphus. They missed catching UW-Stout for fifth place by a mere .50 points.
