Culp Claims Shot Put Title At MIAC Indoor Meet

 Becky Culp tossed the Shot Put 42-8 to win the championship at the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday. The Pipers had four of the top nine spots in this event en route to a sixth place overall finish. As it turned out, Culp needed all of it. Her victory was by a mere one inch. Erin Urbanowicz was seventh in the Shot, followed closely by Jerri Koltveit and Shawny Kramer. Kaitlyn Frenchick nearly joined Culp in the winner's circle, finishing a close second in the 600 Meter Dash. her time of 1:37.81 was just .01 of the winning time.

Two Pipers set school records Saturday. Marie Theisen was fourth in the 1000 Meters but her time of 3:00.62 set a new school standard. Same for Christina Walker, who came in fifth in the 200 Meter Dash with a new school record time of 26.26 seconds.

The Pipers finished with 70 points, four behind St. Ben's for fifth place.
