McKeag, Monson Win Titles At MIAC Meet

Brennan McKeag nipped teammate Joe Morelli to claim the Shot Put title and ignite a solid performance by the HU men's team at the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Meet Friday at Macalester. Devin Monson bested the field at the 5000 Meter Run to provide the Pipers' second win of the day. Monson also set a new school record in this event, beating the old mark by seven seconds.

 Hamline finished the day in second place with 63 points, trailing only defending champ St. Thomas.

McKeag's throw of 51-1 1/2 defeated his teammate, who finished at 49-3 3/4. The Pipers also recorded points in the Long Jump due to Travis Latzke, who was third with a leap of 22-5 3/4. Derrick Mora was right behind Latzke with a 22-3 effort.

The Piper runners also fared well. Monson's time of 14:40.89 beat the frield by nearly 17 seconds. Ellis Richardson came in third (15:00.89). So did Jack Deichert, whose time of 4:13.69 bettered the old meet record. Chris Reisdorfer was sixth.

Mora came in fifth in the 60 Meter Dash and DJ Weil was eighth in the 400 Meters.

The meet wraps up Saturday.
