Ingrid Haugan didn't make a big splash in the preliminary round of the 3-Meter Diving Competition at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the U of Minnesota. And that is a very good thing. Haugan, a sophomore, stands third with a score of 213.40 after the preliminary dives Thursday morning. She advances to the semifinals Friday.
In other women's action, the all freshman relay team of Hannah Hawker, Michelle Vargason, Hannah Hankins and Rachel Ronnander came in 10th in the 200 Free Relay race. Hawker came in 25th place and Ronnander was 35th in the 50 Free prelims. Vargason was 29th and Erin Weslander was 34th in the 200 IM Prelims. Mackenzie Hayes was 35th in the 500 Free.
Ben Smidt was the lone men's swimmer in action Thursday afternoon. He came in 35th in the 50 Free prelims. In the evening, Smidt, Corbin Conliffe, Jerry Daniels and Zach Lameyer finished 7th in the Men's 400 Medley Relay.
The event continues tomorrow at the U of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Complete information is available by clicking here.
