Mitambo Wins Twice In Men's Tennis Opener

Bernard Mitambo got his senior season of tennis off to a good start. The senior won his singles match and teamed with Sam Teitelbaum for a doubles win in Hamline's season opening 6-3 loss to Wis-La Crosse at the U of M tennis center.

Mitambo and Teitelbaum's effort, a solid 8-2 win, was the lone HU triumph in the three double matches. In his singles win, Mitambo came back after dropping the first set 1-6 for 6-2 and 10-4 victories. Robert Becker earned HU's other win, a straight set pair of 6-3 triumphs.

It was the lone non-conference tuneup for the men before they open MIAC play next Saturday when they face Gustavus Adolphus, winners of the last 23 straight conference titles.
