Hawker, Haugan Win Twice Each At River Falls

Hamline's swimmers captured seven events but Wis-River Falls' depth won out in a dual meet Saturday in Wisconsin. The women had moments of grandeur in their 162-91 decision. Ben Smidt was the men's lone winner in a 174-64 setback.

Haugan continued her strong winter, winning the 1-Meter Optionals with a score of 212.40 and the 1-Meter Voluntaries (161.10). She joined Michelle Vargason (who was second to Hawker in the 100Ffree), Erin Weslander and Rachel Ronnander for a win in the 200 yard Medley Relay. vargason got into the winner's circle in the 50 Freestyle. Her time of 26.57 is less than two second from landing in the school's all-time Top Ten list in that event.

Smidt joined the party in the 200 yard Butterfly, winning the race by a remarkable 17 seconds. Smidt, Jerry Daniels, Nick Herrera and Corbin Conliffe came in a close second in the 200 medley Relay, losing by just three seconds.
