Gymnastics Loses Close Match To UW-Oshkosh

It was about as close to a tie as you can get in a gymnastics meet. Despite having the winner in all four events, Hamline dropped a 176.25-175.85 decision at UW-Oshkosh Saturday. Courtney Benson won three events and Jacklyn Clement one but the Titans' overall depth spelled the difference.  Benson triumphed in the Uneven Parallel Bars (9.200) with teammates Summer Haag third and Rachel Hendrickson fourth. She won the Balance Beam with a score of 9.550 (Corinne Stiffler was third) and she took the Floor Exercise with a score of 9.400. But the Titans claimed the next four places and that fact proved be to be important to the final margin. Clement bested her on the Vault (9.325-9.225). Benson also claimed the All-Around Honors with a final total of 37.375. (Haag was third and Clement was fourth.)

The gymnasts return to action next Saturday at the Best Of Minnesota Invitational at U of Minnesota.
