Cold second Half Doom HU Men

It was a tale of 20 minutes. At halftime, Hamline was shooting 56 per cent from the field and trailed MIAC co-leader Gustavus by just two points, 47-45. But the Gusties took off in the second half and the Pipers had a five-minute cold spell that turned the tide for good. HU ended up on the short end of a 105-79 decision, ending their three-game winning streak.

Brandon Rieg scored 12 points off the bench and Dior Ford added 10. Four other Pipers (Tyler Pannell, Mike Campbell,Al Tillman, Marshall Jestings) had nine each. But Gustavus' Seth Anderson showed why he leads the conference with a 36 point effort.

Then second half started well with Noah Aguirre hitting a jumper to tie the game at 47. Gustavus, however, scored the next 16 points and never looked back..

HU now stands 8-7 overall, 6-4 in the MIAC. They continue a busy schedule this Saturday when they host Macalester in the second game of a doubleheader. Game time is approximately 3:00 p.m.
