Balanced Attack Helps Men's BB To Third Straight Win

It was the kind of game that is a statisticians' nightmare and a coaches' delight. 12 of the 16 Pipers who saw action  landed on the scoresheet in a wire-to-tie 80-61 victory over St. Mary's Monday night at Hutton Arena. The Pipers kicked off a stretch that sees them play five games in 10 days with their third win in a row. Hamline's 6-3 MIAC mark (8-6 overall) puts them only one game behind the tri-leaders Augsburg, Gustavus and St. Thomas. They will face all of those squads on the road before this 10-day run ends, starting with the Gusties in St. Peter on Wednesday night.

Dior Ford (16 points in just 19 minutes of playing time) led a balanced offense. Mike Campbell added 14 and a team high eight rebounds. Noah Aguirre and Al Tillman were next in line with 12 points each.

Hamline took charge of this game early and never let up. HU led 42-26 at halftime, stretching the margin to as many as 25 points in the second half. Coach Nelson Whitmore used his entire bench in the game with 10 players getting 10 minutes or more of playing time. All but two players grabbed at least one rebounds as part of Hamline's total of 49, their second best effort of the season.

HU's only home game in this segment is this Saturday when they face Macalester on the back end of a doubleheader. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Hutton Arena.
