Campbell, Ford Double Up Royals

Mike Campbell and Dior Ford made quite the deadly duo Saturday. Campbell had a career high 29 points and Ford also had a career best with 22 as the Piper men's team crept back over the .500 mark with a 77-71 win at Bethel Saturday afternoon. Hamline is 7-6 overall and stands 5-3 in the MIAC. Campbell, who also had eight rebounds, contributed four of the Hamline's season high total of 18 steals. Noah Aguirre led the thievery with five as an aggressive Piper defense harassed the Royals into 29 turnovers, the most by any MIAC team this season.

Hamline used a 11-0 run in the final 3:11 of the first half  to head into the locker room with a 43-38 advantage. Ford, who scored in double digits for the 11th straight game and also had eight rebounds, then nailed a pair of shots to start the second half and the Pipers quickly took control of the game. They led by as many as points in the second half only to see the Royals mount a comeback and cut the margin to 3:04 remaining at 67-63. Aguirre, who finished with 10 points and Victor Easter then connected on consecutive shots to put HU back up by eight. Hamline shot 55 percent from the field in the second half to secure the win.
