Women's Hockey Hits The Ice In Wisconsin

With the Packers having a weekend off, the sporting spotlight in Green Bay will be on St. Norbert's College and their athletic teams. While Aaron Rodgers and buddies are resting, the Piper women pucksters will have their moment in the glare of the northern Wisconsin spotlight. Coach Steve DeBus' team (3-6-1 overall) plays its first games in four weeks Friday when they tangle with the Green Knights Friday at 4:00 p.m. 

 


  
 

Hamline hasn't played since Dec. 10 when Corinne Henning scored in overtime to lift the Pipers to a 1-0 victory over Marian to sweep the series at Warner Coliseum. Nicole Jones had a 31-save shutout in the win. St. Norbert's takes a 4-8 won-loss mark into the game. SNC has also been off since Dec. 10 when they lost a 3-0 game to Wisconsin-River Falls. The Green Knights are 1-2 against the MIAC this year. they won their season opener against St. Benedict but lost a weekend swing through Minnesota, falling to St. Mary's and Gustavus. 
 
On Saturday, HU moves on to Concordia (WI) for a 2:00 p.m. game. The Falcons take a 6-4 mark into a Friday night home game against St. Mary's. 
 
The Pipers except to debut a new face this weekend. Sam Berger, a freshman from St. Paul  who is slated to play defense, joined the team recently. A Central grad, she played last season for the Saint Paul Blades.
