Poirier nets 22 but Pipers fall to Lakeland

Kara Poirier found her shooting eye Tuesday afternoon, pouring in 22 points but it wasn't enough as Hamline's women's bb team dropped a 67-48 decision to Lakeland (Wis.) in the second round of the Daytona Beach Shootout Tuesday afternoon. Steph Pilgrim added a dozen points and Je'Naya Brown contributed a season high seven rebounds as HU fell to 2-5 overall.

The Pipers had a season high 38 boards for the game.

Lakeland (4-4) led 33-22 at halftime. As they did the day before against Pacific, HU mounted a comeback, cutting the lead to seven at one point, shooting 40 percent from the field for the period. But the Muskies extended the lead to double digits and kept on going.

Hamline is off until January 2 when they resume MIAC play against Augsburg at Hutton Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
