Womens BB Rally Falls Short At St. Olaf

The Piper women rebounded nicely from a slow start but couldn't overcome St. Olaf and dropped a 76-64 decision Wednesday night in Northfield. Kara Poirier had the hot hand again, leading the team with a season high 21 points. Jordan Sammons added 14. But the Oles improved their record to 6-0 (3-0 MIAC) by grabbing a 19-point halftime lead and holding on in the second half.

HU fell into a 10-0 hole in the first 3:06 of play. They worked the margin to four at 16-12 but the Oles went on a 16-4 run. It was 47-28 at half time. In the second half, HU whittled away at the Ole lead, trimming it to eight at 67-59 with 4:13 to play. But the Oles scored the next five points to put the game out of reach.

Hamline is now 2-3 overall, 1-3 in the MIAC. They continue this week-long road trip at Moorhead Saturday against Concordia. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
