Second Quarter Outburst Big Difference in Football Finale

Hamline had trouble holding onto the ball in their football finale against St. John's. And the Johnnies made then pay for it. A 34-point second quarter broke a tight game open en route to a 61-0 victory at Klas Field.

The Pipers turned the ball over seven times, offsetting their total of 111 yards offense. Adam Meyer returned from the injured list to complete nine of 18 passed for 78 yards. Tim Queck also returned from the walking wounded list to catch four passes for 42 yards.

On defense, John-Michael Vandenberg had 15 tackles and Nate Sarrazin added 14 (including eight solos). But the Johnnies kept alive their long streak of winning season when they exploded for five touchdowns in a span of little over five minutes late in the second quarter to take a 41-0 intermission advantage.

Hamline finishes at 0-10 overall, 0-8 in the MIAC.
