Hamline's volleyball team hung tight with St. Mary's most of the afternoon at Hutton Arena. But they couldn't get points when they needed them at the end of games. As a result, the Pipers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Cardinals in their final home match of the season. HU is now 9-17 overall, 1-8 in the MIAC.
As has been the case much of the season, the scores were close. HU lost the opener, 17-25. Game 2 was a bit tighter at 18-25 and the finale was a nailbiter, 23-25.
Paige Walters' (Fy., Nevis, Minn.) six kills led the Piper offense. Lacy Koss (Fy., Dodge Center, Minn.) had 13 digs and a pair of service aces and Lynsey Reimer (Fy., Peosta, Iowa) added 10 digs. Sammie Miller (Fy., Grand Island, Neb.) distributed 22 assists.
The Pipers wrap up the season with a pair of road matches next week -- Wednesday at St. Thomas and Friday at Augsburg.
