Football is a challenging game. And there can be few bigger challenges than facing the conference's only unbeaten team ... and the No. 3 team in the country to boot. HU takes the short trek to St. Thomas Saturday to meet the undefeated Tommies, currently ranked No. 3 in the country in the latest d3football.com poll.
Hamline is coming off a 37-0 loss at home to Gustavus Adolphus last Saturday. It was an even game for the first 20 minutes. Then the Gusties exploded for three TD in less than four minutes in the second quarter and the Pipers couldn't catch up. Connor Sathre (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) rushed for 40 yards and passed for 71 more to lead the Pipers' 165-yard offensive attack against GAC. Olajuwan Stiffler (So., Troutdale, Ore.) continues to impress on defense. He led HU with 11 tackles (including five solos and one for loss) and a forced fumble against the Gusties. He leads the Pipers with 43 tackles overall.
HU fans attending the game should know that the game is St. Thomas' Homecoming game. The parking lot that used to be next to O'Shaughnessy Stadium is no longer there. The best bet for parking is to go south one block to the southern part of the campus and park in the lot off Grand Ave.
The game will be broadcast locally on WCCO-AM radio (830). Because of that, the kickoff has been moved back to 1:10 p.m.
