Garside Goal Lifts HU to 1-1 Tie With St. Thomas

Brienne Garside was fresh. After all, she had just entered the game two minutes earlier. The sophomore from Broomfield, Colo. alertly jumped on a loose ball and chipped it into the net late in the first half. The Pipers, rated ninth in their region, are now 6-2-2 overall, 1-2-2 in the conference.

The Tommies opening the scoring 22 minutes into the game. It was the only shot to elude GK Liz Stock (Sr., Savage, Minn.), who ended the game with three saves. Garside, who had entered the game two minutes earlier, converted a pass from Aileen Scheibner (Fy., Woodbury, Minn.)  in heavy traffic and drove it into the net to tie the game 14 minutes later .

Her teammates continued the attack, out shooting the Tommies, 11-9, overall and 8-4 in shots on goal. The Tommies held a slight edge in shots in the second half but the Pipers recorded the only shot on goal in the extra sessions.
