For 75 minutes Tuesday afternoon, the Hamline women's soccer team went toe-to-toe with undefeated St. Olaf in Northfield. But the Oles showed why they are undefeated when they reeled off two goals less than four minutes apart, sending HU to their second loss in a row, 2-0.
The Pipers are now 6-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the MIAC.
Led by Heather Hollinger (So., Las Vegas, Nev.), who came off the bench to record two shots, Hamline held a 3-1 edge in shots at halftime. But the Oles came on strong in the second half, taking all seven shots registered. They improved to 8-0-1 overall, 4-0-0 in the conference. Erin Urbanowicz (Fy., Gresham, Ore.) started in goal and had one save in the first half. Liz Stock (Sr., Savage, Minn.) made five saves in the second half but allowed the two goals.
The Pipers return home to play their first game at Paterson Field in 2 1/2 weeks this Saturday when they host St. Thomas. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
