Mens CC team rated No. 1 in Central Region

HU head coach Paul Schmaedeke will, like most coaches, tell you the only poll that really counts is the one at the end of the season. Still, it is always nice to get acknowledged. The HU Men's CC team got the nod for the top spot in the Central region in the first United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCA) poll of the year.

Led by Jack Deichert (Sr., Golden Valley, Minn.), the conference men's CC Athlete Of The Week who won the event, HU finished third in the prestigious Luther Invitational in Decorah, Iowa. The first national poll will be released Wednesday. The Pipers are one of five MIAC teams noted in the Central Region rankings. St. John's is listed third. St. Olaf and St. Thomas tied for sixth and Bethel is ninth.

The next CC meet is Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Roy Griak Invitational on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
